ANALISIS PERBANDINGAN PEFORMA VIRTUALISASI ANTARA DOCKER DAN VIRTUALBOX PADA WEBSITE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSYTEM

Abstract


This study aims to analyze the performance and resource usage between Docker and Virtualbox in running the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) on local servers and cloud servers. Testing was carried out using JMeter tools with three test scenarios: 50 users, 100 users, and 150 users. The performance test results show that in running the Moodle LMS, Docker has better latency results on tests on cloud servers using Ngrok, with simulated latency values of 50 users 140.92 ms, 100 users 157.89 ms, and 150 users 365.66 ms. Whereas Virtualbox provides better latency in testing on a local server, with a simulated latency value of 50 users of 5,785.82 ms, 100 users of 13,968.28 ms, and 150 users of 18,218.11 ms. In addition, this study also analyzes the use of CPU, RAM, and Disk resources on both types of servers. The resource test uses Task Manager and shows that in running Moodle LMS websites, Virtualbox uses less resources than Docker. On the local server, Virtualbox resource usage reaches 54% CPU, 38% RAM and 2% Disk. Meanwhile, on the cloud server, Virtualbox resource usage reaches 85% CPU, 43% RAM and 2% disk. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that Docker is more stable in running LMS Moodle on cloud servers with better latency, while Virtualbox is more efficient in using resources on local servers. This research provides insights for system developers to choose a platform that fits their performance needs and resource usage when running Moodle LMS.
